A Harvest Scene, by Jane Neale

This weekend, we celebrated harvest at CRBC, with our supper on Saturday and a service on Sunday.

Each year BMS World Mission ask us to consider a project they are funding. This year the theme was “Sacred Soil”, and focussed on a community in Peru. (follow this link for more info: http://www.bmsworldmission.org/harvest ). We watched a video showing how BMS are supporting both practical projects and a new church plant. Being a church in the heart of a busy town, it’s difficult to put ourselves in the position of people who rely on a good harvest to feed their families and provide their income. But through the wonders of technology, we get a glimpse of real people who are being touched by God through faithful followers of Jesus.

Harvest has always been a community festival in which both young and old (and everyone in between!) can participate. At CRBC we enjoy any opportunity to meet together and harvest is a good excuse. But we are conscious of the many who have little and we the few who have much. So this harvest time spare a prayer, and some money, for those who struggle to survive. And thank God for all the good things he has blessed us with.

Dan.
